These watercolor, pen + ink prints are inspired by the natural dye colors produced by various plants. Some plants leaves, roots, or flowers produce a wide range of color that can be used in dyeing fabric. The pen + ink details aim to emphasize the variations and color mixing of the watercolor, as well as, embody the roots or leaves of the plants.
* The last three prints are risograph prints. The unique imagery found in these paper prints were taken from my large scale textile designs inspired by the various textures described above, and printed using a risograph printer. The risograph printer is similar to a copy machine and can print high-volumes of copies, but utilizes soy based inks. The soy based inks allow for a unique quality to each print. Each color is printed as its own layer, allowing color mixing between layers to occur.
